Maintaining Healthy Mouths After Halloween

It’s Halloween and your neighbours will likely be handing out tonnes of sugary sweets that your kids will devour for weeks to come. This can be a truly tough time for parents attempting to prevent kids from excessive candy consumption.

With all the time and effort kids put into collecting their candy, it can be difficult to stop them from having too much. Here are some tips to keep your kids’ mouth healthy, courtesy of Smile A Lot Dental Centre.

Chew Sugarless Gum

Chewing on a stick of sugarless gum can actually help clean your mouth and boost oral health. Chewing gum helps to produce saliva that subsequently rinses out sweets as well as various other food particles.

Timing

Take care that your youngsters don’t dig into their candy until after dinner. Extra saliva is developed while eating, which protects teeth from microorganisms by clearing food debris from their mouth.

Brush!

It is essential for your youngsters’ to brush for at least 2 minutes, multiple times a day. Check that they use fluoride toothpaste along with a good toothbrush that is changed every few months.

Remember to floss
